Privacy Policy
Last updated
Melyvi is a conversation for reflection that remembers what you tell it. That makes this policy load-bearing rather than decorative: the memory is the product, so what it holds and what you can do about it needs to be legible.
Melyvi is for adults. It is an AI tool, not a therapist, not a diagnosis and not an emergency service.
What Melyvi collects
- Your account. Email address, and your name if you sign in with Google or Apple and choose to share it. If you use Sign in with Apple and hide your email, Melyvi only ever sees Apple’s private relay address.
- What you write and say. Conversations, journal entries and daily check-ins. Spoken conversations are transcribed so they can be answered and remembered; in a live voice conversation the audio goes straight from your device to OpenAI, which hears and answers it.
- The memory built from them. A structured model of what you have told Melyvi — facts you stated, people you mentioned, episodes, how things felt, what repeats, what helped. Items Melyvi inferred are stored labelled as inferences, and every item keeps a link to the words it came from.
- Diagnostics. Crash reports and basic usage analytics, so faults are visible and the app can be kept working.
- Subscription state. Whether a Melyvi Plus subscription is active. Melyvi never sees your card; Apple or Google take the payment.
Why
To run the conversation and carry it across sessions, which is the thing the app is for; and to keep the service working and secure. Melyvi does not sell your data, does not show advertising, and does not use your conversations to train anyone’s general-purpose model.
How long
Raw conversation text is kept for a period you choose — 30, 90 or 365 days after a conversation closes, set in the app under Privacy, and 365 days unless you change it. Derived memory persists until you erase it or delete your account, because that is what lets a later conversation start where the last one ended.
What you control
- Read everything Melyvi holds, item by item, with its source.
- Correct anything wrong, or reject an inference.
- Hide a memory from reuse without deleting it.
- Get a copy of everything Melyvi holds, as a JSON file. Ask in the app under Profile › Privacy › Request my data, or email support@melyvi.com from the address on your account, and we send it within 30 days.
- Erase the learned memory, keeping your account.
- Switch memory off entirely, after which nothing further is kept. Journal entries stay out of memory unless you opt in, and Melyvi only raises something before you do if you turn that on.
- Stop Melyvi sending anything to OpenAI, in the app under Profile › Privacy › AI data sharing. Melyvi cannot reply while this is off.
- Delete the account and everything in it.
Viewing, correcting, exporting and erasing stay available whether or not you subscribe, including after a subscription lapses.
Who else processes it
Melyvi uses a small number of providers, each for one job.
- OpenAI writes Melyvi’s replies and weekly reflections, reads replies aloud, hears and answers live voice conversations, and helps organise what Melyvi remembers. To do that, Melyvi sends OpenAI the messages you write and the audio of live voice conversations; the memories relevant to a reply; your answers from setting up, such as what you would like to be called; your check-in moods; and your journal entries, only if you include them in memory. Melyvi does not send OpenAI your email address, your password or anything about payment. Nothing is sent until you allow it on the screen in the app that asks, and you can withdraw that at any time. OpenAI processes this data only to provide these features for Melyvi, does not use it to train its models or for advertising, and keeps it for no longer than 30 days, to detect abuse.
- Apple, if you choose Sign in with Apple, tells Melyvi your name if you share it and an email address, which may be a private relay address.
- Google Firebase handles sign-in, notifications and diagnostics. If you choose Google sign-in, Google tells Melyvi your name and email address.
- Sentry handles error reporting.
- RevenueCat keeps track of subscription status.
Each of them acts only on Melyvi’s instructions and for no other purpose, and each is bound to protect your data to at least the standard this policy describes.
Security
Traffic between the app and Melyvi’s servers is encrypted in transit.
